Street/Launch/ARC Team sign-up details
Hello!
Do you enjoy Fantasy and SciFi novels?
Would you like to receive my ebook weeks before publication for free?
Do you want to share your honest opinion online and with friends?
If the answer to these questions is YES, then I want you on my ARC team!
You can sign-up here.
Let me explain: Also known as a Street Team or Launch Team, an ARC team signs up to receive my work prior to publication. An Advance Reader Copy (ARC) is an eBook version in as close to publishable format as I can get it. The eBook can be loaded onto your favorite reading device and is yours to enjoy.
What’s in it for me: Authors need to cultivate fans, buzz, and reviews so that other customers can find their work and be willing to give it a try. Even some of the advertising we buy requires a minimum number (and star rating) of reviews. Your evaluation helps my work get noticed and (I’m hoping) spreads word of mouth recommendations to check out my books.
My role: I write in the SF&F genre. I’ll provide work that has been professionally edited (either through a publisher or independent editor). Before formal editing I typically run through four to six full drafts and garner inputs and recommendations from beta readers. My manuscripts will be as close to error free as I can make them and should be well within any standard you’ve come to expect of purchased books. An exception to this process might apply if I release any short stories or novellas as these typically have a more individualized path to completion.
I typically notify you by email that a book is ready 2-3 weeks before its official publication and release through Amazon. I will provide the book or a download link, tell you the release date, and ask that you leave a review within a week of the release date.
Here is what’s in the works (as of Dec 2020):
(This series is light urban fantasy & teen-adult appropriate with no explicit sex, extremely little cursing, & magic and demons)
The Heartstone Chamber (Magic Trade School book 1): estimated to street team late Dec, publication Early Jan 2021
The Silver Portal (Magic Trade School book 2): estimated to street team Jan, publication Jan/Feb 2021
The Forgotten Isle (Magic Trade School book 3): estimated to street team Jan/Feb, publication Feb/Mar 2021
What’s required to be on the team?
- Enjoy the SF&F genre and/or my work
- Sign-up with a valid name and email address (note: this is a separate list from my newsletter—you will not get news and giveaway offers by being on this list)
- Commit to reading the books I make available to you for free. I expect 3-6 per year.
- Commit to post honest online reviews with your star ratings and a quick thought or in-depth review—where and how much is your choice (Amazon, Goodreads, BookBub, etc. are always helpful)
- Enjoy your role. I deeply appreciate and value your commitment, but if it isn’t fun I wouldn’t want you to continue.
- Books are ready 2-3 weeks before official publication and release on Amazon. I will provide a download link via Book Funnel, tell you the release date, and ask that you leave your review within a week of the release date.
What is NOT required:
- Life happens,
- If life gets in the way, I understand. Read and review when you can.
- If you just can’t, please catch the next book when available.
- If you can’t bring yourself to finish a story not to your liking, don’t (though if you find you don’t enjoy my work or cannot write reviews please unsubscribe)
- Glowing reviews. You have to be honest. A fair review will typically state what you liked and didn’t, but your rating should reflect how you really felt about the work. Remember, this isn’t just to help me, it’s to help your fellow readers find books they’ll enjoy.
- Online reviews should always include a statement such as “I received an advanced copy of this book for free, and am leaving an honest review of my own free will.”
- Don’t worry, Amazon review policy specifically states that authors may gift their books for this purpose (other products have been banned from the practice.)
- Direct feedback to me, although I am always happy to hear your thoughts, concerns, or ideas. Each book will be ready to publish, but that doesn’t mean it is 100% error free. The industry standard even through major publishing houses is to catch 90-95% of errors. So if you want to send me a note feel free, but it is in no way expected nor required.
