Local author book signing at Hamlin Memorial Library on 24 May 2018 @7pm.

Jim Stein of Smethport, Pa donates copies of “Strange Tidings” to library, answers questions, signs books.

Smethport, Pa – Peaceful McKean County is quite a change from DC, where Jim Stein retired from the Navy after 29 years. Stein moved to Smethport with his wife Claudia Chapman Stein of Farmer’s Valley in 2014, dropped a desk into the back bedroom, and went to work. Stein’s first published novel, Strange Tidings, packs music and magic in an Urban Fantasy that will appeal to teen through adult readers. Strange Tidings is available in print and eBook at Amzaon.com, Barnes & Noble, and other online retailers.

“It’s great to see what an active role our library plays in the community,” Stein said. “From reading and art programs to the excellent music and food at Foot Stompin’ Fridays, Hamlin Memorial has something for everyone. I’m honored to be part of it all.”

Strange Tidings is the first book in the Legends Walk series. The story takes place in New Philadelphia, after a virus has reduced the world’s population. 17-year-old Ed Johnson discovers a unique heritage and must learn to forge the music he loves into true magic. Friends, monsters, and Native American folklore feed the action as dark creatures pursue Ed and his family.

Stein is published through The Wild Rose Press Inc. Working with a small press provides many of the benefits of traditional publishing, but with hundreds of excellent books coming out daily, getting noticed remains a challenge. Reader reviews and recommendations remain the single most important tool to help new authors gain recognition. Even the shortest honest opinion builds a picture.

“The characters are believable and interesting. Cheer for the good guys, hate the bad ones, but they were all well written.” – Debi D., Amazon reviewer.

Stein will be at the Hamlin Memorial Library from 7pm-close on 24 May to meet the public, answer questions, and do a short reading if there is interest. His book is easily found at Amazon.com by searching on the title or author. Signed copies of Strange Tidings will be available with special event pricing and the author can be reached online at www.JimSteinBooks.com as well as on Facebook, Twitter, and Goodreads at JimSteinBooks.
